Stay on St. Bart, Golf the Leeward Islands
There isn't a single golf course on St. Bart, but that doesn't mean that the avid golfer should forego a trip to St. Bart altogether. St. Bart is a lovely island to visit, filled with world-class restaurants, stunning scenery, and a chic atmosphere, but the best news for golfing fans is that St. Bart is also within a short island-hopper trip to a number of premiere Caribbean golf destinations.
St. Martin/St. Maarten has the closest golf course to St. Bart geographically speaking and, at just ten minutes or so in the air from St. Bart, it makes for a nice morning or afternoon on the fairways. St. Croix and St. Thomas, of the US Virgin Islands, are also home to a number of spectacular golf courses. St. Bart is connected to the USVI by several flights daily, though count on a bit of a longer trip to these destinations from St. Bart. A round on the one of the great championship courses on St. Kitts or Nevis is only forty minutes away from St. Bart with a connection on a short flight from St. Maarten on Windward Island Airways. Plan it right and you could enjoy breakfast on St. Bart, a round of golf overlooking the Caribbean, and a relaxing lunch back on St. Bart. St. Bart officials could consider building a course right on their island, but with the amount of options for golf in the surrounding area, there really is no reason to disturb its pristine lands.
